Commuter Core Training – Ontario

GODLY PLAY CORE TRAINING

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, MARCH 3, AND APRIL 21, 2018, FROM 9:00-5:00 P.M

ISLINGTON UNITED CHURCH, 25 BURNHAMTHORPE RD, ETOBICOKE

Godly Play connects the stories of God’s people with the child’s own experience and relationship with God. The goal of Godly Play is to show how to be open to the Holy Spirit, the Creator and the Redeemer, all at once and all the time in every place.

Hosted by Islington United Church and Co-sponsored by Emmanuel College, this series of Godly Play Commuter trainings is designed to allow you to experience and tell Godly play stories and learn how to set up and manage a Godly Play space and session.

You will deepen your understanding of the spirituality of children.  You will achieve a greater clarity about the foundations of Godly Play, and leave spiritually refreshed. All learning will take place in a prayerful atmosphere of give and take with accredited and experienced Godly Play trainers.

Prior experience is helpful but not necessary.  We do recommend reading Teaching Godly Play: How to Mentor the Spiritual Development of Children, by Jerome W. Berryman.  A Godly Play Certificate of Accreditation will be awarded upon completion.

The training takes place over three Saturdays (February 3, March 3 and April 21) from 9:00-5:00 p.m. at Islington United Church, 25 Burnhamthorpe Rd, Etobicoke. Lunch and refreshments are included. Fee $325 +HST. Deadline for registrations is January 19, 2018.

Amy Crawford and Maya Landell bring deep experience with Godly Play to the training they will offer.

Amy Crawford is accredited as a teacher and trainer of Godly Play.  She has been using Godly Play in church settings for 20 years.  Amy lives in Toronto and works as the Leader of the Communities in Mission Team at the General Council Office of The United Church of Canada.

Maya Landell is the Minister at Islington United Church and has been using Godly Play for the past 15 years.  She has found it to be a transformative spiritual practice for herself and her communities of faith.
